Judith Sullivan (UK Patent Office)
Judith Sullivan has worked in the Patent Office for about 25 years, joining first as a patent examiner. Prior to this, she worked as a research chemist at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals immediately after leaving Cambridge University with a degree in Natural Sciences. She moved to the intellectual property policy unit at the Patent Office about 12 years ago and has worked on policy issues across the whole range of intellectual property rights. In 2003/4 she was the leader of the Bill Team which saw the Patents Act 2004 enacted and both before and after this has been Deputy Director leading on copyright policy, including UK implementation of the 2001 Directive on copyright in the information society and legislation introducing copyright exceptions for visually impaired people. .
